Since the time she had this malady, her portability bit by bit diminished. It was normal that she would need to depend on a wheelchair sometime in the future. Despite the fact that she couldnt walk, I appreciated that she could even now sing joyfully regardless of what she was going through. My sister has Parkinson Disease, and I could at present recollect my folks articulation when they were told about it. Following two years of treatment, the specialist approached us to be set up for the most exceedingly awful. It was agonizing to acknowledge it, yet I did it in any case. As her more established sibling, I mustnt let her concern excessively. Thus, rather than demonstrating my downturn, I generally faked a grin at whatever point Im with her. She didnt think about her present condition yet, so it was extremely excruciating to shoulder. I turned into the poser who grinned at her sister and lied that everything Is alright. As time goes on, the grin got simpler to make, and my rudeness frequented me to such an extent that I needed to cry once in a while In my bed. At last, I committed a grave error An Impossible guaranteed was made to her. Hello, gives up to the cascade once you recover. From that point onward, we can do heaps of stuff together, I said it without even batting an eye. Why cascade? So I stooped down and embraced her firmly, she battled a piece from the outset, however long embrace, one that was long enough to let me finish my crying. You could state that my tears are loaded up with blame and lament from my heart. I may not be qualified to embrace my own sister, however it was my lone solace, my best way to feel excused. You will recover, I advised her delicately as my arms became more tightly around her. I lied once more, yet I could feel her grin, consoling me till the end. A shady evening in the mid of June, she was on her bed in the emergency clinic. This time, she couldnt sing. I was next to her while my folks were away for lunch outside the medical clinic. Her eyes were clear, as though there wasnt a spirit left in them. Her look was fixed to the postcard in her correct hand, and she smiled a piece from time to time.I couldnt stand her being this way, so I promptly took out my mobile phone and downloaded a video of individuals playing at the cascade. I demonstrated her the video, Hey, you like it? furthermore, the video quickly got ere consideration, and totally overlooked the postcard in her grasp. Wa Fall, she couldnt talk appropriately any longer, so I said for her: Thats right, a cascade. .. She seemed like she concurred of what Ive stated, and murmured something. She kept on watching and entertained herself into the video cheerfully. Her eyes that were dead as first mirrored the light of the screen and became alive.Seeing her like this, I let out a murmur of alleviation, and watched her getting a charge out of the video quietly. The thunder started to thunder and the sky came down intensely. I calculated that my folks would not be back for some time since it was pouring vigorously. Water All? I was shocked by her abrupt inquiry. I gestured to her and stated: Yea, its cascade all over the place. After a short delay, I included: Ah. .. Yet, you cannot play right now My sister appeared to be happy with the cascade outside and chuckled similar to a guiltless kid. I felt a nail pricking my heart when I saw her like that. In this way, I thought of a thought. I arranged her wheelchair. Ham? she appeared to be fairly amazed of what Im doing. Watch out, I conveyed her and tenderly put her on her wheelchair. Alongside her dribble, I pushed the wheelchair close to the window. WA.. .! Her eyes went wide and unknowingly stuck her palms onto the window. I could tell she was getting energized. While she was busy with the downpour outside, I went to get myself some water. While pouring the water, I saw an edge was obvious under her cushion. Inquisitive, I chose to go look at it. Also, to my shocked, it was an envelope for me. I opened the envelope to peruse the letter inside. A feeling of unusual inclination flooded through me, and it wasnt great. The letter stated: Dear Brother, Im extremely upbeat that you are perusing my letter. You know, its very irksome to compose with my present condition. Along these lines, Im just ready to loosen up as far as Possible recorded as a hard copy this letter. Anyway;ay, back to the point. I have an admission to make. To come clean, I previously got a thought of my condition. Im not beating that, am l? I quit perusing. What? Huh? My brain is loaded up with confusion.I took a gander at her who was as yet stuck to the window, and returned exactly. Mother and father was acting abnormal subsequent to conversing with the specialist that day. You were acting abnormal, as well. So I asked the medical caretaker to let me know. She delayed from the outset, and disclosed to me I wasnt doing great. Im not dumb, so I know my destiny as of now. Likewise, I don't have the foggiest idea what sort of frenzy constrained you to make such a guarantee to me. Bonehead, why for heaven's sake did you make such a guarantee?! If it's not too much trouble dont make guarantees you cannot keep, alright? I stopped for some time as my eyes turned red. However, Im happy. This method of doing things is actually your style. Along these lines, Im not going to for me to keep living in this universe of despondency and misery.. . In one of the uncommon minutes when Im really mindful, you were crying while at the same time embracing me. I know why you were crying, so I kept quiet, however it truly harms my heart. You should be dismal in light of the fact that it wasnt conceivable, yet dont be. On the off chance that we couldnt make it to the cascade, let our hearts be there. Hello! I dont like this sort of setting. The tears I made a decent attempt to keep down at long last got away. So please excuse yourself, since I never accused you, not in any case once.Sigh, this is actually an uncommon second. Presently that Im mindful, I wont neglect this opportunity by to keep in touch with you this letter. All things considered, I dont realize whenever will I get an opportunity like this once more. Be that as it may, when you read this, I may have as of now lose myself, or rather, not here any longer Anyway;ay, sorry for upsetting you, and deal with mother and father for me. Heaps of affection, Caroline. I completed the letter, astounded. I didnt trouble to wipe my tears, so it evaporated leave two path of stain at my face. The side of the paper was at that point folded by my hold. I scoured my eyes and got up.She was at that point resting along the edge of the window. With a slight grin all over, I tapped her head tenderly, Thank you. After fourteen days, a significant number of my relatives and her companions went to her burial service. I was shocked she had numerous companions. There were little discussions and crying all over. With respect to me, all I felt was deadness. It most likely happened that route as a result of the staggering feeling torment. Maybe my heart encased itself to keep the torment from harming its proprietor. Feelings, for example, despair didnt register into my cerebrum. Be that as it may, I despite everything needed to question.Pain, where have mine gone to? Was it since I became acclimated to it? Had I truly become accustomed to it? I addressed lord of the manner in which I felt, and deadness transformed into blame. Also, this wasnt what I need either. Yet, the idea of my sister ready to rest after a long fight, figured out how to comfort me a bit. During the internment service, various bloom petals were dispersed inside the casket. Indeed, even in death, she resembled an excellent lady in sleep. Her hands were collapsed conveniently, and her excellent dark hair secured with bloom petals. The minister finished the service with a prayer. The final resting place is shut, yet there were still individuals who drop blossoms onto her casket. Laborers came and secured her grave. My mom was crying in my dads arms. It was actually a farewell. Some were crying, some were quiet, that was the manner by which the group indicated their gratefulness for her. A raindrop fell on my correct shoulder. What came after that was only the most proper climate for the occasion. Individuals began to dissipate as a result of the substantial storm. L, be that as it may, was the main individual who remained before her grave. Overlooking the downpour with a harsh grin, I at long last asked: Hey Do you like the cascade?

Its also often prescribed for people whove been diagnosed with  panic disorder, a condition that causes frequent episodes of specific symptoms called panic attacks. If your doctor suggests you take Zoloft as part of a treatment plan for panic disorder, it can be helpful to learn how the drug might work to help you manage your symptoms. The more you understand about any medication you take, including how it affects the body and any potential side effects it might cause, the more comfortable youre likely to feel when taking it.   How Zoloft and Other SSRIs Work Zoloft (sertraline) has been available for the treatment of depression since the mid-1990s.?? At that time, many studies found the drug to be highly effective for treating panic disorder as well. It is a medication that is prescribed to treat mental illnesses like depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and more.?? People who take Zoloft often report improvements in mood, appetite, sleep quality, energy level and interest in daily life. Many say that they feel less afraid or anxious and have fewer panic attacks. Zoloft belongs to a class of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Examples of other SSRIs include Prozac (fluoxetine), Paxil (paroxetine), and Lexapro (escitalopram).  These medications work by increasing the amount of serotonin available in the brain.?? Serotonin is a neurotransmitterâ€"a chemical that carries signals between brain cellsâ€"that, among other things, helps to regulate mood. In particular, serotonin is associated with positive emotions; in fact, its sometimes called the feel-good chemical. As an SSRI, Zoloft and other SSRIs do exactly what the name suggestsâ€"they block the reabsorption, or uptake, of serotonin in the brain, leaving more of the chemical available. Research has found that for many people, taking 50 to 175 milligrams of Zoloft per day can  reduce the severity and frequency of panic attacks and baseline anxiety, and is as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy.?? Side Effects Since drugs like Zoloft affect the brain, you may be worried about how taking them will affect youâ€"that youll feel strange or have trouble thinking, for instance. Truthfully, theres no way to predict how an SSRI will make you feel since everyone responds differently to the drug. One thing that is for sure is that you wont get relief from your  symptoms  right away as the drug will need to be in your system for some time before you feel the full effects.   Common Side Effects You may experience side effects of Zoloft before you notice youre feeling better. The side effects may include:   DrowsinessNausea (which you may be able to avoid by taking your medication with food)Dry mouthInsomniaDiarrheaNervousness, agitation or restlessnessDizzinessHeadacheBlurred vision?? Sexual Side Effects One of the most potentially bothersome side effects of Zoloft and other SSRIs are sexual problems. These can include  reduced sexual desire or difficulty reaching orgasm, or less frequently inability to maintain an erection (erectile dysfunction). These can be so distressing for some people that they  choose not to take the medication and live with their psychiatric symptoms.   If taking Zoloft interferes with your sex life, the Mayo Clinic suggests some things you can try before quitting the medication:?? Give it time. Sometimes sexual side effects of antidepressants get better on their own.  Adjust your dosage. Speak to your doctor first, of course, but you may be able to take a lower dose and still get the same benefits with less impact on your sexual function.    Adding a second antidepressant.  One, in  particular, Wellbutrin (bupropion), has been found to sometimes counter the sexual side effects of SSRIs.  Take medication to improve sexual function.  You can try Viagra (sildenafil), Cialis (tadalafil) or Levitra (vardenafil), which are all approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treating sexual problems in men. Limited research suggests sildenafil may improve sexual problems caused by antidepressants in some women, but more information is needed on its effectiveness and safety in women. If none of these measures work, you may need to try a different antidepressant to find one that doesnt have the same effect on your sexual function.     Serious Side Effects Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following less common side effects of Zoloft: Signs of an allergic reaction: hives, rash, difficulty swallowing or breathing, and swelling of the face, mouth, throat or tongueVomitingConfusionExtreme nervousness, irritability or anxietyRapid heart rateSeizures?? Serotonin Syndrome In very rare cases, an antidepressant such as Zoloft can cause high levels of serotonin to build up in the body. This is most likely to happen to someone whos taking another medication that can elevate serotonin such as other antidepressants, certain pain or headache medications, and the herbal supplement St. Johns wort.?? This is one reason why its important to always make sure your doctor knows which other drugsâ€"including over-the-counter medicines and supplementsâ€"you might be taking before he prescribes something new for you. Signs and symptoms of serotonin syndrome include anxiety, agitation, sweating, confusion, tremors, restlessness, lack of coordination and a rapid heart rate. Seek immediate medical attention if you have any of these signs or symptoms.?? Black-Box Warnings All antidepressants, including Zoloft, have a black box warning. Black box warnings are assigned to medications by the U.S. Food Drug Administration. In some cases, children, teenagers and young adults (under 25) may have increased suicidal thoughts or behavior when taking antidepressants, especially in the first few weeks after starting the drug or after the dose is changed.?? Anyone taking an antidepressant should be watched closely for worsening depression or unusual behavior. If you or someone you know has suicidal thoughts when taking an antidepressant, immediately contact your doctor or get emergency help. Keep in mind that antidepressants are more likely to reduce suicide risk in the long run by improving mood. Stopping Zoloft If you decide you want to stop taking Zoloft, do not go cold turkey. Talk to your doctor first so he can help you gradually wean off the drug. Quitting abruptly can cause you to potentially experience some serious withdrawal-like symptoms. Even if youre very ready to go off Zoloft, the process will be more pleasant if you take your time.

Educational psychology takes the outcomes of its studies and informs disciplines such as curriculum development, special education, and classroom management of its findings. For example, if educational psychology finds that children progress further in reading skills by grouping them according to similar ability levels, a first- grade teacher may then take that knowledge and divide her class into small groups during reading time. .u2f51ae1a93259a4344ab80cbb0d5c869 { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#eaeaea; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #34495E!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .u2f51ae1a93259a4344ab80cbb0d5c869:active, .u2f51ae1a93259a4344ab80cbb0d5c869:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .u2f51ae1a93259a4344ab80cbb0d5c869 { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .u2f51ae1a93259a4344ab80cbb0d5c869 .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .u2f51ae1a93259a4344ab80cbb0d5c869 .post Title { color:#000000; text-decoration: underline!important; font-size: 16px; } .u2f51ae1a93259a4344ab80cbb0d5c869:hover .postTitle { text-decoration: underline!important; } READ Online Business Management Degree Discover a Career in Organizational Change Management ConsultingSteps to Becoming an Educational Psychologist In order to officially enter the field of educational psychology, a professional must first earn a Master of Science in Educational Psychology or a similar graduate degree. Mental Health Involuntary Patient Treatment - 2190 Words

Mental Health: Involuntary Patient Treatment By Jessie Sherlock The issue of humanity’s mental health is something our species has dealt with since the beginning of our existence – even if it wasn’t publically acknowledged. Mental health is generally defined as a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being: a disorder of thought or mood which significantly impairs the judgment, behavior, capacity to recognize reality, or ability to cope with the ordinary demands of life resulting in possible harm to themselves or others. The World Health Organization, also known as WHO, has defined mental health as â€Å"a state of well-being that enables a person to cope with the normal stresses of his or her life, do productive work, contribute to the community, and otherwise realize his or her potential† (WHO, 2014). What we as humans face, is the overwhelming struggle to attain a proper state of psychological and emotional well-being – which can be more difficult than commonly though t in today’s society all around the world. A mental illness is any condition which disrupts a person’s mental health. A mental illness or disorder can stem from physical causes such as disease, or any combination of environmental, psychological, and genetic factors. The most commonly recognized mental illnesses include: depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (Gale, 2015). Prohibition Movement - 1920 Essays - , Term Papers

Prohibition Movement - 1920 During World War I, men were encouraged to serve the military and women took over the job that was left behind by these men. The economy was limited during wartime. As a result, the clothing designs and styles were made to fit the economy. Which meant less needs for new clothes; restriction on the use of wools and dyes were in short supply. The influence of the military style clothing came in effect and appealed to women who served war work. Such as: cut of jackets and coats, trench coats, trousers and sweaters. However, women who worked in public still wore skirts but hold drastic difference compare to the dresses wore during the previous decades. ?There were no time for mincing steps in restricting ?hobble skirts?! (Laubner 8) Since women were earning considerable payment for their wartime work, skirts became shorter and wider to suit their working life styles that enable them easier movements. Another great influence on the 1920's fashions, trends, and life styles were the law of prohibition. In 1869, a prohibition party was organized. The party was joined by the Women's Christian Temperance Union, the Anti-Saloon League over the years. The temperance movement had succeeded in prohibiting alcohol sales in seven states, by the end of the 19th century. The prohibition movement made great strides during the two decades of the 1900s. Twenty-seven states were dry by the year 1917. On January 16, 1919, the 18th amendment was ratified. Meaning: the manufacture, sell, or transport of alcoholic beverages in the U.S. illegal. The elimination of alcohol was thought to be the answer to social instability and moral decline. It was believed that alcohol were responsible for poverty, diseases, crimes and drunk workers and soldiers. Despite the ratification of the eighteen amendment, many Americans did not intend to give up the drinking alcoholic beverages. Millions of Americans became lawbreakers since they can see nothing criminal about the enjoying a glass of wine, beer, or hard liquor. Trade became a source of wealth, there were an increase willingness to break the law. ?Booze? became our national plague. Making the matter worst, people learned to make their own whiskey, wine, and beer. . It was impossible to enforce the law and mobsters soon began ?rum running.? Many people distilled their own ?hooch? in home stills or bathtubs, thus the expression ?bathtub gin.? (Laubner 9) Speakeasies were introduced; a place where liquor are readily available. Americans during the 1920s proved themselves failures to the tolerance test, they were unable to enforce the law of prohibition. The challenge of getting around carrying alcohol appealed to many people. People sought ways to conceal the alcohol without getting arrested by their clothing and accessories. Women were able to keep flask in her garter. ?People also hid the stuff in the false books and coconut shells, in hot-water bottles strung from their necks and hidden under their clothing and in garden hose wrapped around their waists, in prams with babies perched on top and in carpenter's aprons with big fat pockets. One man was caught hustling over the international Bridge at Buffalo carrying two boxes of eggs, everyone which had been drained and refilled with liquor? (Time Life 113) Yet, Prohibition did outcome some success. Records reveal that alcohol consumption did initially drop after the onset of National Prohibition and the Volstead Act. However, this decrease on a national level was not very significant compared to the effect of previous temperance measures in specific communities. In addition, after this initial drop alcohol consumption continued to rise steadily throughout Prohibition to the point where it thought consumption would actually go above the statistical level before prohibition. The same was true of alcohol related diseases?while it was declining, alcoholism and alcohol-related illness climbed to new heights, all while Prohibition was still in effect (Thornton 70?71). Thus, in the end, the initial success of Prohibition soon reversed. History Reports

Articles of confederation.

Articles of confederation. ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATIONThe Articles of Confederation provided for the basic structure of American government from 1781. The articles bound states together, but this tie was so weak that central government was impossible. A national government should have the ability to enforce its authority, have a clear description of where the governing powers lie, a delineated leadership, and disposition of economic and foreign affairs. The Articles themselves were drafted at the beginning of the war, but all 13 states had to sign before they could be ratified. In July 1775, Benjamin Franklin presented Congress with the first written plan for a new national government, the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union. Other plans also were introduced the following year, but it was not until June 11, 1776 that the Continental Congress appointed one committee to draft the Declaration of Independence and a second committee, composed of one delegate from each colony, to prepare a plan of confederati on.The Articles of Conferderation, ratified in 1781. ...A month later, the latter committee presented Congress with a draft constitution known as the Articles of Confederation. The committees constitution assigned broad powers to the new national government, including the authority to tax, to determine state boundaries, and to dispose of all other unsettled Lands for the general Benefit. The draft document also placed restrictions upon the authority of the states, divided national expenses proportionally among the states according to state population, and most contentiously granted each state delegation a single vote within a unicameral national Congress.Despite general agreement for the Declaration of Independence and a widespread recognition of the need to provision the military resistance against Great Britain, there was no immediate constitutional consensus concerning the terms of a new national government. Rather, during the next year and a half, state delegates discussed, deba ted and periodically attempted to amend...

How to Tackle the 2015-16 Common Application Essay Prompts - The Essay Expert

How to Tackle the 2015-16 Common Application Essay Prompts - The Essay Expert In preparation for a TV interview on Channel 3000 last summer, I researched the new Common Application Essay questions. Somehow I got it into my head that I had already written about them since I had researched them. But in actuality, I did not share these new topics on my blog! Now that it’s college application season, I am really and truly sharing the Common Application Essay Prompts for 2015-2016. These new college essay prompts, on which I’ve commented below, were crafted based on survey results from almost 6,000 people who were members and constituents of the Common Application organization. The parts that changed from last year are in italics: Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it.  If this sounds like you, then please share your story. (Previous prompt: â€Å"Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it†¦.†) I like that â€Å"identity, interest, and talent† were added as options and that the words â€Å"so central to your identity† were replaced with â€Å"meaningful.† These changes open up the question to a broader range of possible responses, and frankly take some pressure off. Not every applicant has a background that they consider â€Å"so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it.† But just about everyone has something in their life that’s meaningful enough to be important to share with the admissions committee. The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? (First sentence was added to prompt.) Honestly, I don’t love this addition. To me it’s too handholding and should be clear to any student writing an essay about failure. Perhaps schools were not getting enough essays that showed how students applied the lessons they learned from their failures? But I would think a student’s approach to this essay would be one of the aspects admissions officers would want to consider, without handing a directive to them on a silver platter. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again? (No change.) In my experience, this question proves challenging for most high school students. Few youngsters at that age have gone against the grain in a meaningful way. I recall in second grade challenging teachers who were talking during a fire drill, and, in high school, writing an editorial expressing my dislike of the student dress code. Neither was serious fodder for a college essay. Nevertheless, for those debaters and newspaper editors and political activists in the college application pool, answering this prompt might be just the right road to admission. Describe a problem you’ve solved or a problem you’d like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. (Completely new prompt, replacing this previous one: â€Å"Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you?†) I like this change a lot! The previous question was fairly bland and presented a difficult writing challenge, with no obvious opportunity to show growth. The new question, in contrast, provides an exciting opportunity for students to display their intellectual prowess or emotional intelligence. Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family. (No change.) This might be the prompt to go or be changed significantly in 2016-17. Can you imagine thousands of students struggling to find something â€Å"different† to say about their Bar Mitzvah or Eagle Scout project? However, the prompt does offer an opportunity to explore and describe a unique childhood-to-adulthood transition. I remember fondly, for instance, the essay of one of my clients who taught his sister how to ride a bike, going from being annoyed at her wimpiness to owning his teacher role and succeeding in his task. The challenge here is to steer clear of anything clichà ©. That’s my take on the new College Application essays. As for other people’s opinions on these prompts, almost all of those surveyed agreed that the current prompts would generate effective essays on the whole. A slight majority believed the â€Å"story/background† prompt is the most effective, and I agree. In fact, most students could probably answer that question and submit a very effective essay; but there’s value in offering four more ways for students to approach thinking about their unique offerings and how to talk about their lives in 650 words. Note that very few participants in the survey wanted the â€Å"Topic of Your Choice† topic back. This is understandable since a student could write about pretty much any topic of their choice that’s personal to them and fit it within one of the current essay choices. If your child is applying to college and wants support on writing a great response to the Common Application questions, contact The Essay Expert. Remember, approximately 26% of all college applicants hire an admissions consultant, and your child is in the same pool they are. MARKETING - FINAL CHAPTER PROBLEMS Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

MARKETING - FINAL CHAPTER PROBLEMS - Article Example In this case, Eric (2010) showcases constructs of relationship marketing as it identifies with health care customers and practitioners. With regards to the website refreshing after every ten minutes to keep track of appointments, it is a strategy that aims at developing long-term, cost-effective link for a mutual benefit between the organization and the customer. While focusing on the relationship marketing, organizations shift their focus from individual transactions such as convincing a customer to make use of the clinic services, â€Å"to a long-term loyalty – identifying the institution as a regular health care provider† (Eric, 2010). Customers require high-quality services and retaining a customer requires strategy. Delayed, canceled, or unplanned appointment visits are areas that have, for a long time, been haunting customers and health care institutions as the result of these variables is loss of customers or flawed customer service. However, the invention of a s ervice that enables tracking, observation, and keeping of appointments adapts the contemporary notion of shifting from the individual transaction (patient visit, referral, and sale) to the establishment of a longer-term relationship. The refreshing website is a marketing tool that specifically addresses customer satisfaction, service quality, time and resource management, and accomplishment of customer retention (Eric, 2010). Question 2: Chapter 8 â€Å"I’ve sold products all my life and have been successful. Marketing a food product is no different from marketing a hotel, airline, or hospital.† The above point is naive in all aspects. Firstly, marketing is a process through which a seller of a product or provider of a service uses promotional means and integrated marketing communication to convince customers into buying or using a product or a service. As pointed by the above quotation, the term sold is past tense for sell and means the ability to complete a single tr ansaction by offering a product or service in exchange for money. The naivety of the above point starts with the confusion of selling and marketing. In addition, neither marketing nor selling is a skill (with regards to the question posed, the board expects understanding of selling and marketing concepts but the interviewee portrays selling as an event based on sheer luck) and neither can be measured through the consideration of periodic success. Moving on to the second part of the quotation; products differ from one another and comparing food products to hotels, airlines, or an hospital shows a high degree of naivety. Food products are mostly sold in food shops, restaurants, and/or grocery stores and capturing a market for these products depends on fewer variables than providing services in the health care sector (Berkowitz, 2010). Food products appeal to various people all the time and this industry does not necessarily require loyalty like the health care sector. Health care prod ucts depend on variables such as product positioning (drugs, machines), branding (machines, e.g. in radiology), and diffusion of innovation (rate of adoption of a product). Diffusion of innovation is determined by relative advantage (advantage of new product over existing ones), compatibility (compatibility with existing values and customs creates adoptability), complexity (affects adoption of products), divisibility (trial on a limited basis), and communicability (easy communication of benefits). Reflecting on the

The Strength of Harley Company Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

The Strength of Harley Company - Essay Example SWOT Analysis; is another framework that can be used in external analysis and it looks at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the market. These factors are used for determining the growth or decline of the market, the position of the business, direction, and potential for operations. The strength of Harley Company included customer loyalty and good reputation that they enjoyed in the local market, the dominance of super heavyweight motorcycle segment, state of art technological equipment for production, excellent workforce due to good treatment of employees and good strategies and organizational leadership. And the main threat was competition which was very stiff in the motorcycle market as well as an entrant of cheap products into the market. This analysis shows that Harley was in a greater position of making use of its opportunities and strengths to create strategies that would help it improve sales and gain a competitive advantage over its competitors. The creation of Harley Owners Group further saw an improved and close relationship between the company and the consumers because they were involved in social and charity events in the community. This delivered an atmosphere and the kind of emotions where the consumers felt an experience like they had never felt before linking with the Harley-Davidson Company. This help the company improved its sales and gain customer loyalty as well as competitive advantage in the market. Traditionally the majority of Harley consumers were blue-collar men aged the 20s and 30s but the demographic profile shifted and in 2002 the age group rose up from 30s to 40s. The company also recorded a 9% increase in female consumers down from 2 percent in 1987. The introduction of baby boomers into the market also improved their sales and as the prices rose up, the middle-aged professionals became the demographic targets and as they were the most attractive for the company.

Properties of Gases Essay

The purpose of this lab was to investigate and discover the physical and chemical properties of some gases. Throughout this lab the ability to identify if and when gasses were present was enhanced. During the first step of this lab, when obtaining the hydrogen from the mossy zinc and the hydrochloric acid, it took a lot longer than I thought it would for the water in the pipet to be displaced. I was tempted to remove the stopper and add another piece of zinc and see if that would make it go faster, but I did not want to interrupt the process. It seemed the longer that the mossy zinc was exposed to the hydrochloric acid the faster it dissolved and therefore more gas was produced. When the manganese and the hydrogen peroxide were exposed to each other there was much more fizzing produced than that of the zinc and the hydrochloric acid. I was surprised (although I don’t know why) that the lime water turned cloudy when exposed to breath. It is quite simple when you think about it that when you exhale you release carbon dioxide which as shown in the above data turns the lime water cloudy. Conclusion/Discussion During the course of this lab I learned a lot about the generation of gases. I was somewhat confused in the beginning about how to use some of the equipment for this lab. As the lab went on I figured it out and became much more comfortable with it. I thought some of the experiments were very informative and interesting. I especially liked the portions about reactions with a lit match or the glowing splint as it showed on a small scale if the gas produced was flammable or not. Questions A. Give two reasons why we fill the gas generator test tubes almost to the top with chemicals. 1. The first reason we fill the test tubes almost to the top with chemicals is so that the reaction between the two substances is high enough to the top to go through the rubber stopper and displace the water in the pipet and trap the gas. 2. The second reason is so that observations can be made easily about the reactions. If it was not almost completely filled we may have had to try to pick up the test tube or remove the tissue paper to make observations and this may have altered the results. B. What happens to the zinc in the hydrogen generation experiment? The zinc begins to slowly dissolve when exposed to the hydrochloric acid. The longer the zinc was submerged in the hydrochloric acid the faster it seemed to dissolve. C. What happens to the manganese in the oxygen generation experiment? The manganese produced large amounts of fizzing when exposed to the hydrogen peroxide. It was difficult to tell whether the manganese was actually dissolving or just fizzing. D. Write a balanced equation for the reaction between O2 and H2. 2H2 + O2 2H2O E. What is the function/purpose of the bromothymol blue in the CO2 experiment? The purpose of the bromothymol blue was to show the reaction of the chemicals and the gas that was formed. Since the bromothymol blue changed from blue to yellow, that signified that the gas formed was acidic. F. Bromothymol blue is blue in the presence of basic solutions, and yellow in the presence of acidic solutions. If your solution is a murky green, what might you assume about the solution? I would assume one of two things. There may have possibly been a contamination of the substance. The other possibility might be that the pH of the solution is neutral. If the bromothymol blue turns a murky green color this may indicate that the substance is neither basic or acidic.

Overview of the United States Air Force Art Collection

The conditions of war are rather difficult and require a great deal of concentration and determination. This is one of the reasons for which the United States Army has developed several mechanisms through which its soldiers and recruits can ensure a wider variety of recreational activities that drive them away from the stress of everyday assignments. These include art and music, which are essential for relieving some of the pressures that soldiers face in their duty. There have been numerous attempts through which aspects such as art and music have come to be connected with war-like conditions and that have determined an improved state of mind of the soldiers. At the same time however, there is a constant need to further contemplate the activities undergone by soldiers through different manifestation of recreational endeavors that include, among others, art and music. The United States Air Force has provided the necessary background to encourage the establishment and further development of an artistic view on the activities undergone by its members through the US Air Force Art program. One of the main aspects of the mission of the program is The United States Air Force Art Collection documents the story of the Air Force through the universal language of art.
